In order to overcome temptation and avoid evil we much control our actions, our words and our thoughts.

Since Satan never gives up in trying to get us to think bad thoughts, we should never give up in trying to overcome them.

The way David honored Saul in his calling as king is an example for all of us to honor and sustain our ecclesiastical leaders.

We must live faithfully to realize the promises given to us in inspired blessings and prayfully seek to following the commandments given in those blessings, too.
Does a Church leader’s sins and mistakes affect his/her calling?
Mormons do not believe their leaders are perfect; only Jesus Christ is perfect. Thus Mormon Church leaders and even prophets make mistakes, but we are to respect their office and listen to them.
Why do we need to control our appetites and passions?
Mormons are commanded by God to control all their passions and appetites within their proper boundaries. Bodily appetites and lusts can lead to addiction and keep us from God’s spirit.
