What is the proper way to dispose old worn out garments?

John,
There are a few options when disposing of old garments. The common point with all of them is that the symbols themselves are to be removed from the garments and destroyed. Most of the time that just means to cut them up really fine so nobody can make sense of them. However I have heard of people burning them in their fireplace/wood stove, etc. After that the remaining part of the garment can be used as rags or thrown out with the rest of the household trash. Without the symbols the garments they become regular pieces of fabric.
