Question

Dear Gramps,

I believe that the best way to communicate with God is through prayer.  I also believe that the best way to allow God to communicate with us is to turn to the scriptures. (Not only to gain the words He has spoken to prophet leaders, but to open the portal of heaven to our own hearts).  Do you know of any quotes that teach these principles?

Answer

Dear Barry,

In order to answer your question I would start with the Topical Guide and read through what the scriptures have to say on prayer. I would then go to the Ward library and check out the Conference issues of the Ensign and look through the indices on the subject of prayer and read through the referenced talks. If you were to do that, you  would gain a deep understanding of the subject of your interest. If I were to do it for you, I would gain a deep understanding of your subject. Thanks for the opportunity, but I think that your interests would be better satisfied if you were to do it yourself.
