Two times now people have told me that earthbound spirits, family, etc. are attached to me, as to say living on me or in my energy. Don’t all spirits go right to God? Have some goodly spirits remained here and attached and not crossed over the veil? Thank you. I am often on your site for answers and appreciate your time and wisdom.

Jj,

According to my knowledge, there isn’t any LDS doctrines which support the notion that spirits are attached (“to say living on me or in my energy”). I, personally, would consider this false doctrine — personal opinion.

Do all spirits go right to God? This is a great question. The only spirits which immediately return to God are children who have died under eight years old who have not reached the age of accountability.

Upon death all spirits are received into spirit prison or paradise. However, if God should assign one of these spirits to visit a family member then the person would visit in accordance with our faith and God’s will. However, should they visit they will not be attached to us, or our spirit energy.
