Dear Gramps,

Did Moroni die as noted in the book “Mormon Bathroom Reader”? (page 104)

Julie

Dear Julie,

Since Moroni was the last writer of the Book of Mormon, there was no one left to report whether Moroni died or was taken into heaven as was Elijah and others.  Moroni tells us in the last verse he wrote, 10:34  “And now I bid unto all, farewell. I soon go to rest in the paradise of God, until my spirit and body shall again reunite, and I am brought forth triumphant through the air, to meet you before the pleasing bar of the great Jehovah, the Eternal Judge of both quick and dead. Amen. ”

He appeared to Jospeh Smith and others, including the Three Witnesses to the Book of Mormon, as a resurrected being.  Because of this we know he either died or was translated.  I am not aware of anywhere Joseph Smith or any other Prophet has stated what exactly happened to him.

In a revelation given to Joseph Smith we learn that Moroni was given the responsibility of bringing forth the Book of Mormon.  It is found in D&C 27:  5 “Behold, this is wisdom in me; wherefore, marvel not, for the hour cometh that I will adrink of the fruit of the bvine with you on the earth, and with cMoroni, whom I have sent unto you to reveal the Book of Mormon, containing the fulness of my everlasting gospel, to whom I have committed the keys of the drecord of the estick of fEphraim.”
