Gramps,

I was reading about a lady who donates her eggs, for women who are unable to have children with their own eggs. What is the church’s point of view on this. I can see how she is helping other people become mothers, but is this interfering with God’s wishes for the person receiving the eggs?

Thanks for your great answers, I really enjoy this column.

Jennifer, from Wales

Dear Jennifer,

I am unacquainted with any church policy with respect to the subject of your inquiry. It is my understanding that these matters would rest with the conscience of the individual member. However, if questions arise, it would be a good idea to consult with the bishop of your ward. Not only does he have the church handbooks available, but he has the right of inspiration from the Lord to give us counsel on such matters.
