Dear Gramps, I am 26 and a single mom, I hold a full time job and am taking online courses which I am considered a full time student. How much effort should I be putting into looking for a companion at this point in my life? Should I go to the extreme and marry the first person that pops the question? Sheila, from Chanute, Kansas

Dear Sheila, If you wanted to buy a dress, would you go to a store and buy the first thing that you saw on the racks? How much more valuable should a life companion be than a new dress? If you find some time for socialization, and if you are somewhat outgoing at your work and in your school you could no doubt develop relationships with several people. One of the best places to meet and get to know someone is within your church associations. This is like going to a particular rack in the dress shop where they have dresses in your size and style. You will want to marry someone who shares your values and ideals. A common religion would be one of the basic things what would make for durability in any relationship. Gramps
