I would like to learn what is the church’s position on plays in the church building are? I am asking you because our stake has just been reorganized and no one I have asked knows for sure.Thank you.

Donald, from New Mexico

Dear Donald,

You might try the high councilman resposible for youth activities in the stake. However, our church buildings are built with cultural halls and stages, whose proper function would be as a setting for plays and other cultural activities sponsored by the wards and stakes.

The chapel proper, however, where Sunday services are held, is in reality a sacred location, and should not be profaned by activities that are not spiritual and uplifting in nature.
