Dear Gramps,

My son was married in 2005, Sealed in the Temple in 2006. In 2007 He asked me not to contact his wife in any way. I don’t understand what I have done to make them so up-set at me that my son hasn’t spoken to me since Oct. 08. I didn’t receive a card, or call for Thanksgiving or Christmas…….I am so hurt I can’t hardly stand it. What should I do?

Thanks !

Virgie
Dear Virgie,

This is a very difficult circumstance and one that is very difficult for you to deal with, especially where you are not aware of why your son will not contact you.  My mother went through a similar situation with my sister.  Eventually they were reunited, but not until after several years of pain and frustration.

I would advise you to continue to make advances to your son in any way you can and which he will permit.  That might be calling him, writing him or visiting him.  Though he might not respond, don’t give up hope or stop contacting him.   Be sure to let him know of your love and caring for him and his wife.  It would be well to request his forgiveness for anything you might have said or done that he and his wife has taken offense to.

Further I would go the Lord in prayer, let Him know your feelings and desire to be reunited with your son and his wife.  Ask Him to help you understand the situation and inspire you to take the steps necessary to be reunited with your son and his wife.  Also to soften the hearts of all involved, including yourself, so that your family maybe reunited.

Remember after we have done all that we can the Lord will bless us to be able to accomplish our righteous desires.
