Question

Hi Gramps,

We recently visited a less-active sister and found out that the reason was that she got offended by the “cutting remarks” from the Stake President. How do you appease this situation? Thanks!

Lex

Answer

Hello Lex,

In our experiences in the Church we tend to meet someone who had been offended by what a Stake President or Bishop once said.

In October 2006, Elder David A. Bednar, instructed and taught members of the  Church a wonderful lesson regarding “taking offense”, titled, “And Nothing Shall Offend Them.”

My first recommendation would be to read a talk given by Elder David A. Bednar. He places being offended within the right perspective, and shares how he would introduce the subject matter to members who are/were in a similar position as this inactive sister you care for.

So as not to take away from Elder Bednar’s words, I will write no more, and invite you to read his words.

I believe after you have read these words, if you pray also, the Lord will inspire you to know what to do.
