Question

Dear Gramps,

Is the cap put on the head of an endowed brother just before closing the casket or left off?

Jack

Answer

Dear Jack,

A deceased brother (or sister for that matter) who is endowed will be fully clothed in the robes of the holy priesthood before the casket is closed. This includes the cap. Sometimes during a viewing the cap will be placed in some discreet place, but it ought to be placed on the head before burial.
