What happened to the lost pages?  I think it was Oliver Cowdery who lost them during the translation?

Louie

Dear Louie,

The 116 pages of the Book of Mormon were lost.   Martin Harris was pressured by his wife to show her the work that he and the Prophet Joseph had been working on. These pages were “lost” in order to tempt the Prophet Joseph to re-translate the pages. If Joseph Smith re-translated the pages, they would be an exact perfect copy. However, it was the Adversary’s intention to alter the stolen pages and use them as “proof” that Joseph Smith did not have the power of God unto translation. You can also read the Lord’s revelation and rebuke of Joseph Smith in Doctrine & Covenants, Sections 3 & 10.  What is also interesting to note, is that as Mormon was compiling the plates, he did so in a way according to the Spirit and the Lord “knoweth all things which are to come; wherefore he worketh in me to do according to his will.” (See Words of Mormon 1:7)

The current location of the original 116 pages is unknown, or if they are still in existance.
