Question

Dear Gramps,

I have a question concerning Mormon Temple ordinance workers. A few years ago our ward was blessed to become excursion workers in the temple. Is this still being practiced in temples today? When we went on ward temple excursions, those of us who had minor children, and were excursion workers, would pitch in and take turns watching each others children. Would the ruling of ordinance workers still apply in this situation? Thank you.

Answer

Dear Anonymous,

The concept of “excursion workers” for Mormon Temples is undoubtedly a local calling, apparently to assist those who must travel long distances to attend the temple. To my understanding this is not a church-wide calling, and so the requirements and conditions would be dictated by the local authorities, and I would imagine would have no relationship with the requirements for temple ordinance workers, other than those defined by the local authority.
