Do I have to confess to my bishop if I ate coffee desert? I ordered it but didnt know it had coffee in it until after I ordered it. If I didnt eat it it’s a waste of money.

Josh,
When it comes to the Word of Wisdom, which this would fall under, most of the time it’s a self-inspection issue. In this case, I think just being careful in the future is more than adequate.
First of all, you weren’t aware of the coffee until after the fact, so you’re wiser now for future decisions.
Second, the only time one would go to the bishop for a Word of Wisdom related issue is if one were facing an addiction of some kind, mostly either alcohol or tobacco related.
Third, this seems to be a one-time event at worst, unless you like the desert enough to want to order it again. Even at that, I think the sacrament on Sunday, and paying closer attention to the menu in the future is going to be sufficient.
Finally, in any case, if you aren’t sure what to do, going to the bishop is never a bad idea. Pray and follow the Spirit. You’ll never go wrong that way.
