Question

Gramps,

I have recently pondered the walk with Christ along the the road to Emmaus.  These disciples didn’t recognize him.  And it made me wonder how will Christ appear to us when he returns.  In the past I’d imagined him returning wearing a robe and sandals.  But as I thought about it I suppose that he will be wearing clothing for our era.  And will he talk to us individually or appear to groups of people?  What are your thoughts on his 2nd coming?

Answer

Hello Donna,

On a previous question, my response was similar to what I would have answered here, with a few exceptions.

There is so much interest out there on this topic. Most of the information is pure speculation and/or professional guesses.

The scriptures provide the best information and for the most part, they testify that no-one knows when Jesus Christ will return, but His return will be Spectacular.

You can also read more about His return in the Doctrine and Covenants Church History Seminary Manual.

I particular love the source from the official website of the Church that states:

“When the Savior comes again, He will come in power and glory to claim the earth as His kingdom. His Second Coming will mark the beginning of the Millennium.”

It will be glorious and I am working hard each day to be able to qualify to partake in the reception will take place when he returns.

With loving regards,

Gramps
