Question

Dear Gramps,

Why doesn’t the bible talk about the existence of dinosaurs?

Chester

Answer

Dear Chester,

The Bible is a collection of individual records compiled from the writings of the prophets of God from Moses to the apostles of the Savior. Each individual book of the Bible was written with the purpose of explaining the laws of God, the acceptable procedures of worship, remonstrations for disobedience to the word of God, and prophetic warnings of that which was to come. The bible focused on the future rather than on the past. What the Lord revealed to the prophets to say about the creation and history of the earth and the advent of man is no more than a thumbnail sketch, since it only served as a very brief introduction to the prophetic works that were to follow. The focus of the Bible is directed to the future rather than to the past.
