Dear Gramps, I am getting baptized in a few weeks, and I am worried. The person who is going to baptize me is not following the Words of Wisdom because he is drinking beer beverages that have 0.5 % alcohol in them. Will my baptism into the Mormon faith be considered official if this man who is in the Aaronic Priesthood is not following the Words of Wisdom? Jackie, from Eugene, Oregon Dear Jackie, As long as the person has the priesthood authority, the ordinances that he performs by virtue of that authority are legal and valid in the Kingdom. He may not be worthy of the influence of the Holy Spirit, and if not then any priesthood activity that required the participation of the Spirit simply would not happen. However, if the person’s bishop is not aware of his questionable activities I think that it would be incumbent upon you to bring the matter up with him, rather than relying on someone like Gramps to settle the matter for you.
