Dear Gramps,
I’m glad I found your site. There is an investigator in my branch of the Mormon Church who is troubled about eternal marriage. He wants to know why women cannot be sealed after the husband has died, while men can. I’m not even sure whether that’s the case. Missionaries were unable to answer, too. Can you help me?
Daniele, from Italy

Dear Daniele,
Let’s see if we can shed some light on the subject. For living subjects, a man can have only one wife sealed to him, and a woman can be sealed to only one husband. If the man’s wife dies, he may take another wife and have her sealed to him also, without impacting the first sealing. However, a woman may be sealed to only one husband. If the husband dies, she remains his wife for eternity, and cannot be sealed to anyone else.
