Dear Gramps, My question is, There were eight souls saved on the ark with Noah. I believe there were others on the ark as well, possibly, children, hand maids, servants, concubines. Those who were not ’saved souls’, therefore not worthy of mention in the scriptures. I don’t mean to imply there were a lot of extra people, but more than one. Am I way off on this one? Craig Hansen, from Murrieta, California Dear Craig, The only information given on Noah, his family and the ark is given in Genesis in the Bible. There can be no reason to suppose anything other than what is recorded in the Bible. Were we to do that, we could manufacture all sorts of probable fantasies, and by so doing deny any belief that the Bible is the word of God. This we learn from Genesis—

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Gen 6:9-10).

And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood (Gen 7:7).
